Storage Moisture
Brown Rice Storage at Low Temperature in Japan
Storage Moisture
The most important factor in making it possible for grain to withstand storage is drying. In Japan, the moisture
content of rough rice is reduced to 14.5% or less. In Arkansas, as shown in Table 4, the moisture content is reduced
to 12% for long-term storage of 1 year, 14% for short-term storage of 30 to 60 days when the ambient temperature
is low, but when the ambient temperature is high it is 12% in this case as well. In Louisiana 12 to 13% is considered
a level of moisture content at which the rice can be stored safely.
