Storage Temperature
The storage temperature should be low enough to prevent damages from insects and microorganism.
Figure 16 shows the breeding rate of maize weevils vs. temperature.
They breed actively at 20ーC and 30ーC, but at 15ーC they are almost unable to breed at all. Figure 17 shows the
relation between temperature and mold on rice grains.
The number of molds decreases steadily from 30ーC to 15ーC, and below 15ーC activity stops.
Consequently the temperature should be held to 15ーC or lower to prevent mold infestation on stored rice.
