Rice Quality and Milling

In Japan, brown rice is generally distributed after being inspected based on brown rice quality standards. Then brown rice is milled in a rice mill based upon brown rice quality. In overseas rice mills, husking of dried rice and milling are done in a single operation. Many rice growing countries, therefore, have not established quality standards for brown rice. In rice milling, in principle test husking and test milling should first be done using a test husker and test polisher, but in many countries milling is simply done based on long years of experience and intuition.
