White rice is classified into three types based on their grain shape as follows:
- Normal grain : a perfect grain or equivalent which has its color translucent and well-ripened
- Chalky grain : a grain which has chalky or semi-chalky parts
- Broken grain : a grain which is broken with a length of 2/3rd to 1/4th of perfect grain.
Damaged grain and colored grain are considered to be damaged grain if a part or a whole grain is damaged and/or discolored by the insects, bacteria, etc. And it is classified by the level of the damage.
