The project we applied for was selected for the 2023 "Small and Medium Enterprises and SDGs Business Support Project - Needs Confirmation Survey" conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and announced on the JICA website.
The theme is "SDGs Business Needs Confirmation Survey for Post-harvest Machinery Centered on Batch Circulating Dryer and De-Stoner in Africa" (draft).
In developing countries in Asia and Africa, much waste occurs during the storage after rice is harvested.
Rice needs to be dried after harvest to preserve it for a long time, but in developing countries, mechanization is slow, so proper drying is not possible and the rice spoils, resulting in a lot of rice being wasted.
By reducing waste in the food production process in developing countries, it will be possible to secure more food.
Furthermore, by reducing the amount of food waste, farmer's profits will increase, which will lead to a more stable life and be a step towards escaping hunger.
Until now, we have been working to improve productivity and reduce food waste in rice production through the sale of dryer and rice milling machines, mainly in Southeast Asia, but we plan to continue similar efforts in Africa, where the population is expected to increase the most to solve the food problem.
