The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has announced on its website that our application has been selected for the 2024 "Small and Medium Enterprises SDGs Business Support Project - Business Validation Survey".The theme of the project is "SDGs Business Validation Survey for Improving Post-harvest Processing by Batch Circulating Dryer in Tanzania".
In developing countries in Africa, a lot of waste occurs during the storage stage after harvesting.Rice needs to be dried and prepared after harvesting to preserve it for a long time, but because of the lack of mechanization in developing countries, rice cannot be dried and prepared properly, causing it to spoil, and as a result, much rice is wasted.By reducing waste in the food production process in developing countries, more food can be secured.
In addition, the reduction of food waste will increase producers' profits and stabilize their livelihood, which is a step toward getting rid of hunger.
In collaboration with the Yamagata Bank, we will verify the performance of the circulating dryer, its operation and maintenance, and the feasibility of collaboration with potential local distributors in Tanzania, which faces the above issues, with the aim of marketing the product to local rice millers and others.
